Dr. Preety Shah is a licensed Naturopathic and Chiropractic Physician who has been serving Elgin and the Fox Valley for 20 years. She primarily consults with patients in person regarding chronic diseases, although she also offers telemedicine options. Dr. Shah believes in the importance of patients understanding the disease process and being an active part of their own healing journey through holistic health. When the body is supplied with what it needs and its internal environment is cleansed, it has the remarkable ability to heal itself. During patient consultations, she dedicates time to listening, educating them on health, and providing insights on how they can support their wellness journey.
Dr. Shah graduated with a bachelor's degree in Microbiology in 2001, earned her doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine in 2005, and a second doctorate in Chiropractic Medicine in 2010. In addition to seeing patients in her private practice, she enjoys teaching. She was a full-time faculty member at National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, IL, where she taught several courses including Foundations of Naturopathic Medicine, Biochemistry, Clinical Nutrition, Pharmacology, Advanced Nutrition-Functional Medicine, Geriatrics, OB, and Clinic Theory. At NUHS Whole Health Center, a multidisciplinary teaching clinic, she mentored 3rd and 4th year students in homeopathy, hydrotherapy, and nutrition, and she continues to share her expertise through webinars and online courses focused on integrative medicine.
Dr. Shah is a devoted mother, wife, and friend. She feels grateful for the opportunity to be part of a holistic community that values relationships with others, self, and nature. Her life goal is to continuously improve as a human being and to help others achieve their best health.
The philosophy of holisitc medicine, championed by experts like Dr. Preety Shah, holds that the body possesses innate intelligence and can heal itself when provided with the appropriate tools. This aligns with core principles of holistic & integrative medicine, which emphasize the following tenets; Do no harm, identify and treat the cause of ailments, honor the healing power of nature, view the doctor as a teacher, treat the whole person, and recognize that prevention is the best medicine.
